Power Factor Correction

Power Factor Correction

Power factor is the measure of how effective incoming power is being used at a site.

Poor power factor occurs when a load is drawing more electricity energy than is necessary and can negatively impact on your electricity bill.

Power factor can be improved by installing capacitors, which work to correct energy supply inefficiencies, while reducing peak demand on the electricity network. Not only will this reduce your electricity cost but it will also extend the life of your electrical equipment.

Effective 1st July 2015 Electricity retailers will introduce Reactive Power (kVr) charges for commercial customers whose existing sites represent poor power factor.
